At a World Cup party, someone I love very much committed a salt over the final chocolate chip cookie on the plate. No regrets were expressed.

Her signature
My grandmother baked for everyone — a month of buckeyes, salted nut roll, and rainbow cookies every Christmas, handed to neighbors and family like it was her job. It kind of was.
The name on every package is her actual signature, taken from one of the last cards she gave me. I have it tattooed on my arm. Now it's on the cookies, too.
